Logo Design
logo (noun) – plural logos deriving from Greek: “word, ” “reason,” or “plan”
1: in Ancient Greek philosophy, the divine reason implicit in the cosmos, ordering it and giving it form and meaning
2: a symbol or other small design adopted by an organisation to identify its products and or services.
Around 1300 AD, during ‘the Middle Ages’ early versions of logos developed as pubs and shops used signage to represent the uniqueness of their offerings. Modern logos evolved by the 1930s, making logo design a recognised commercial art applied to popular symbols, emblems, graphic marks or stylised names used to identify an organisation, company, product or brand. *
Logo designs take many forms and enliven many different spaces. They maybe either recognisable or abstract. They may include use of colours, shapes, lines, faces, typography, machines, vehicles, structural parts, botanical & anatomical structures: anything that may easily communicate the visual identity of a company’s product, service and / or brand.
